Job summary

University of Utah Health offers a patient-focused training role to assist with basic patient care while completing Medical Assistant training hours. This position provides experience in clerical support, patient preparation, basic procedures, and supervision by licensed staff within a 24/7 health system.

Incumbents learn to facilitate care delivery, perform CLIA waived tests, and assist with administrative duties, under direct supervision.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated communication and human relations abilities.
• Ability to work in a 24/7 healthcare environment with rotating shifts.
• Capability to learn and apply clinic procedures and basic patient care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures per clinic procedures.
• Report patient concerns to licensed staff and assist with care.
• Perform CLIA waived lab tests as identified by department.
• Assist with suture removal, injections, and basic clinical tasks.
• Chaperone during examinations and assist with procedures as needed.
• Maintain patient exam rooms and restock supplies.
• Answer phones, schedule appointments, and assist with clerical tasks.
• Attend mandatory education on infection prevention, safety, CPR and equipment use.
• Assist with phlebotomy and EKG/ultrasound under supervision.
