Job summary

University of Utah Health Hospitals and Clinics in Salt Lake City is seeking a patient-focused Medical Assistant trainee. The role provides assistive care to patients while completing clinical training hours as part of a Medical Assistant program, under supervision of licensed staff.

You will learn to support clinicians, perform routine clerical tasks, participate in education including CPR and infection prevention, and assist with phlebotomy and basic procedures as assigned.

Qualifications

• Concurrent enrollment in a Medical Assisting program associated with a USHE school.
• Completion of a signed MA Apprenticeship Repayment Agreement.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examinations and procedures per clinic procedures.
• Reports patient concerns to a licensed staff member.
• Performs CLIA waved lab tests and reports results.
• Performs injections (IM, Subcutaneous).
• Assists with patient education and clerical tasks as directed.
• Attends mandatory education including infection prevention and CPR.
• May assist with phlebotomy and EKG/ultrasound under supervision.
