Holland Hospital seeks motivated individuals for a Certified Medical Assistant Apprentice Program with hands-on clinical training and funded attendance at Davenport University’s 15-week program. You will gain experience in patient care, vital signs, basic lab work, and medical administrative tasks in a hospital setting.

Full-time role with on-site shifts, paid at $17.50–$20 per hour, 80 hours biweekly, Monday–Friday, no holidays or weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider by 60 days after hire required.
• Complete Medical Assistant certification within 12 months after hire.

Responsabilités

• Greet patients, escort them to examination rooms, and prepare them for medical procedures.
• Take vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and obtain patient medical history for records.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, stock supplies, and assist healthcare professionals during examinations and procedures.
• Perform basic lab tests and specimen collection as instructed; administer medications under supervision.
• Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and maintain accurate patient records and billing/coding procedures.
• Provide educational materials and explain treatment procedures, medication usage, and preventive measures to patients.
• Adhere to healthcare regulations, infection control procedures, and maintain patient confidentiality; participate in ongoing training.

Holland Hospital will cover the cost for you to attend the Davenport University 15 week Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Program while you gain hands on experience and practical training in a healthcare setting.

Pay Range: $17.50 - 20 per hour

Employment Type: Full Time, 80 hours every 2 weeks.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, either 7:30am to 4:30pm or 8am to 5pm, no holidays or weekends.

Requirements: High School Diploma/GED required, Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider by 60 days after hire required. Complete Medical Assistant certification within 12 months after hire required. Commitment to work for the organization post course completion for one year required.

Assist with Patient Care:

• Greet patients, escort them to examination rooms, and prepare them for medical procedures.
• Take vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse rate, and temperature.
• Obtain patient medical history and relevant information for medical records.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and stocking of necessary supplies.
• Assist healthcare professionals during examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures.
• Perform basic lab tests and specimen collection as instructed.
• Administer medications under the direction of healthcare professionals.

Administrative Support:

• Schedule appointments and manage patient flow to ensure efficient operations.
• Maintain patient records and update electronic health records accurately.
• Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls, taking messages and providing necessary information.
• Assist with billing and coding procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ordering and restocking as needed.

Patient Education:

• Provide patients with educational materials and instructions as directed by healthcare professionals.
• Explain treatment procedures, medication usage, and preventive healthcare measures to patients.
• Address patient inquiries and concerns within the scope of training and refer complex issues to healthcare professionals.

Compliance and Safety:

• Adhere to healthcare regulations, policies, and protocols.
• Follow infection control procedures to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and uphold patient privacy rights.
• Participate in training sessions and educational programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Medical Assistant Apprentices may conduct other duties as assigned by practice leadership and/or medical team.
