Job summary

Summit Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians, PAs or NPs with clerical tasks, patient flow and care. The role includes room setup, patient preparation, testing and vital signs, and documentation in EHR/PMS.

A valid MA/phlebotomy program graduate with BLS and English proficiency is required; 0–1 year experience is requested, with 2–4 years preferred. The position emphasizes efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduated from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program.
• 0-1 year related work experience; 2-4 years preferred.
• BLS or within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks.
• Basic proficiency in computer use.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the examination room and escorts patient in.
• Maintains efficient patient flow.
• Prepares information needed for patient visit.
• Communicates care to meet age, cultural, spiritual needs.
• Answers phones and takes messages.
• Schedules appointments per guidelines.
• Stocks examination rooms with supplies.
• Assists in ordering and maintaining supplies.
• Reconciles encounters per policy.
• Communicates problems to Supervisor/Manager.
• Understands scope of practice.
• Obtains vitals and documents in EHR.
• Documents allergies and medication lists in EHR.
• Enters orders in PMS/EHR and schedules appointments.
• Provides referrals in PMS/EHR when timely.
• Adheres to universal safety precautions.
• Maintains equipment; reports malfunctions.
• Facilitates transition of care to UCC/Hospital.
• Flexibility with schedules.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Provide scribing services.
