Job summary

Women's Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide professional clinical support in a busy OB/GYN setting. You will prepare patients for examinations, assist providers, and help maintain clean, organized treatment areas.

You will record medical histories and vital signs, perform phlebotomy and injections when directed, educate patients, and ensure HIPAA compliance while delivering compassionate care across women's health services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred OR the ability to obtain certification within 120 days of employment (FL only).
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred OR the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Experience in OBGYN or Primary Care a plus.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and injections as directed.
• Strong communication with patients and teams; professional and punctual.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during treatment, examinations, and testing.
• Restock, sterilize, and maintain examination, procedure, and lab areas per policy.
• Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint; document vital signs.
• Perform phlebotomy, injections and specimen collection as directed.
• Educate patients with information and instructions from the provider.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain a safe clinical environment.
• Relay messages between patients, front office staff, and providers.
• Represent the office professionally and support team development and meetings.

The Medical Assistant provides professional clinical care for patients following established standards and practices. Prepares patients during office visits and assists patients and family members before, during and after a doctor’s visit.

• Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during treatment/procedures, examinations, and testing of patients.
• Prepare, restock, and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures.
• Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint.
• Measure, record, and document vital signs.
• Where applicable, perform phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider.
• Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider.
• Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
• Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures.
• Relay messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
• Represent the office in a professional manner. Treat all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner.
• Participate in team activities and professional development activities.
• Attend required meetings.
• Demonstrate and embody the Women's Care mission and core values.
• Compliance with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• (FL Only) Certified Medical Assistant preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within the first 120 days of employment.
• To be eligible for employment and to obtain an MA certification, you must be a graduate of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR served in the Armed Forces as a Medical Technician with honorable discharge.
• Current CPR and/or BLS certification preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within 30 days of employment via Women's Care training.
• Experience working in OBGYN or Primary Care a plus.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections, if applicable.
• Ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions.
• Must possess the ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of internal personnel, providers, personnel of outside organizations, and patients and their family members, both written and verbally.
• Must possess good organizational skills, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and be able to work effectively with all levels of aforementioned groups.
• Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application, preferably eCW.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Must be dependable, reliable, and punctual.
