Job summary

State of Wisconsin is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to manage clinic patient flow within the Health Services Unit ambulatory settings and assist HSU staff. You will provide patient care under supervision of a physician, PA, NP or RN, and perform delegated medical acts under direction.

The role supports a collaborative patient care team, including RNs and clerical staff, with opportunities to contribute to high-quality care in a complex setting.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for clinic patient flow within the Health Services Unit (HSU) Ambulatory settings and assisting HSU staff, by providing a broad range of health care services. This position functions as a member of HSU’s patient care team which includes registered nurses (RNs), nurse practitioners (NPs), clerical staff, and physicians. Medical Assistants may provide patient care under the supervision of a physician, PA, NP or RN, and perform delegated medical acts which must be directed, supervised and inspected by the supervising physician.

Salary Information

The starting pay is $47,923 yearly, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. The pay schedule/range is 06-11. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

• Performing clerical services (i.e. scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, navigating electronic medical records, using Microsoft Word and Excel)
• Performing patient care services (i.e. taking and recording vital signs and medical histories; preparing patients for examination; assisting with patient examinations, treatments, and procedures, able to accurately account for all tools and equipment.)
• Working with confidential medical records.
