Job summary

Beloit Health System is seeking compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Assistants to join our healthcare team at Beloit Clinic in Beloit, WI. The Medical Assistant will support providers in delivering high-quality patient care by performing both clinical and administrative duties in a fast-paced medical office environment.

The Medical Assistant will assist with scheduling appointments, completing pre-certifications, patient documentation, vitals, and basic procedures.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant at time of employment (CMA, CCMA, or RMA)
• CPR certification within 3 months of hire
• Strong critical thinking abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication and counseling skills
• Two years of clinical experience desirable
• Willingness to learn phlebotomy and point of care labs
• Preferred EMR experience
• Prior clinic specialty experience welcome, but training provided

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient documentation and medical record prior to appointment
• Escort patient to room, obtain vitals and update medical record with medical history and other data
• Prepare patient for examination or procedure
• Ensure informed consent is signed for procedures and perform Time-out with Physician/LIP
• Assist Physician/LIP with examinations and/or procedures
• Administer medications ordered by Physicians/LIP and update the medical record
• Maintain and update electronic medical record
• Handle incoming calls and triage under supervision of a licensed clinician
• Educate patients and families
• Schedule patients and manage appointments
• Ensure patient safety when handling medications and during transport
• Review patients' basic physical, psychological and social needs
• Adhere to infection control policies
• Navigate computer software used in the department
• Perform unit-specific duties per competencies
• Participate in quality assurance activities
• Maintain adequate supplies and timely completion of duties
