Job summary

Ortho Rhode Island is looking for a Medical Assistant to support patient care in our Wakefield, RI clinic. You will greet patients, prep exam rooms, obtain histories and vitals, assist with injections, and manage schedules. HIPAA/OSHA compliance is expected.

The ideal candidate has MA training or certification and EMR experience, with a patient-focused approach and strong teamwork. We offer growth opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Formal training as a medical assistant or certification preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients by greeting them in person or on the telephone.
  • Prepares patients for health care visits by accompanying them to exam rooms and arranging gowns.
  • Obtains patient histories and vitals; assists with injections and sterile field setup.
  • Maintains accurate and complete medical records for coding purposes.

The Medical Assistant will emphasize highly personalized care and help patients surpass barriers to healthcare by improving the patient/provider relationship.Responsibilities/Duties:Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiresPrepares patients for the health care visit by accompanying them to exam room; providing exam gowns; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipmentAssist providers in the treatment of patients by obtaining histories and vitals, preparing injections, setting up sterile fields, suture removal, dressing changesCast applications and DME applications as necessaryVerifying patient’s medical record is complete and accurate for medical coding purposesTriage patient calls and physician messagesMaintain exams rooms with adequate medical supplies and sterilization as requiredPreparing patient charts before patient arrivalScheduling follow up appointments, initial therapy visits, and MRI appointmentsCompliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulationsOther duties may be assigned as necessary.Who you are:Qualifications:High School Graduate or equivalentFormal training as a medical assistant or certification as a medical assistant (preferred).Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.Experience with Electronic Medical RecordsWhat we offer:Excellent growth and advancement opportunitiesDynamic environmentAccess to a diverse network of practitionersBroad infrastructure of tools and programs to enhance the employee experienceCompetitive CompensationGenerous PTOBenefits package: health, dental, vision, 401(k), etc.We are an equal-opportunity employer.
