Job summary

The Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield, MA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the outpatient clinic. You will maintain clinic flow, obtain routine clinical information, assist with patient care, and help manage supplies, with light clerical duties.

Required qualifications include a valid Basic Life Support certification and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program; preferred candidates have 1–2 years of MA experience and a pediatric care background.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or ability to obtain.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Ability to sit for a certification exam from a nationally recognized organization.
• Preferred: 1–2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Preferred: Associate's degree.
• Preferred: Pediatric care experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of patient care in the clinic and maintain clinic flow.
• Obtain routine clinical information from patients/families and perform basic care tasks.
• Procure and maintain par levels of clinic supplies; provide light clerical assistance.
• Transcribe delegated orders into the EMR and support casting/splint applications as needed.
• Perform venipuncture and obtain specimens when required.
