Job summary

Shriners Children's is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant in Salt Lake City to support clinic operations, room patients, document encounters, and assist with Telehealth. You will manage vitals, history, and basic procedures while coordinating with front desk and radiology teams.

The role requires a Medical Assistant Certification and BLS within 30–90 days. Pediatric ambulatory care experience and proficiency with Epic EMR are preferred. A customer-focused, collaborative approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certification required (CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA).
• BLS required within 30–90 days of hire.
• Pediatric/Ambulatory Care experience preferred (1 year).

Responsibilities

• Escort patients from waiting room to exam room and verify DOB.
• Obtain vitals, perform basic history and prepare for procedures.
• Assist with telehealth intake tasks and ensure accurate charting in Epic.
• Support check-out and update rooming status in Epic DAR.
• Direct physicians and APPs to rooms based on DAR status.
• Prepare exam rooms and manage supplies; assist with cast room setup.
• Attend meetings and ongoing training; participate in quality and safety initiatives.

Shriners Salt Lake City is looking for a full time Medical Assistant to join the team!Key Responsibilities:Escort patients from waiting room(s) to exam room(s), confirming date of birth and ensuring patients are in the proper attire required for their visitAt relevant sites, MAs will walk patients to radiology or POPs rooms/waiting areas, in addition to rooming for clinicObtain patient vitals (height, weight, temperature, pulse, BP, etc.), draw blood, and conduct basic medical history (including chief complaint, medication history, social history, and family history)Conduct Telehealth intake tasks – document vitals, medical history, and encounter detailsEscort patients to check out and update rooming status in EpicMonitor Epic DAR and communicate with all relevant teams (front desk, radiology, POPs, etc.) to ensure timely rooming and patient handoffsDirect physicians and APPs to patient rooms based on Epic DAR statusAssist in patient education regarding casting care, surgical prep, and discharge instructionsPrepare exam rooms daily; stock and maintain supplies and equipmentAt relevant sites, support cast room setup, cleaning, and supply managementParticipate in outreach clinics and support continuity of care initiativesPrepare and manage Telehealth rooms and equipmentAccurately input patient data (vitals, medications, allergies, immunizations, and intake notes) into EpicPerform clerical duties including copying, faxing, scanning, and other correspondence handlingClean exam rooms between patientsSupport Physician Clinic order entry process according to established SCMG guidelines and workflowsAttend required meetings, in-services, and complete ongoing education, and competency trainingParticipate in department performance improvement and safety trainingRequired Qualifications:Medical Assistant CertificationAcceptable certifications include, but are not limited to: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA Required in states where certification is mandated by law or regulation.
