AFC Urgent Care South Portland is hiring Medical Assistants to support providers and the clinical team. The practice emphasizes high-quality patient experiences in a busy urgent care setting and offers both full-time and part-time roles.

Responsibilities include triage, vital signs, point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, EKGs, and assisting with procedures. Competitive pay and benefits are provided, with weekend shift stipends and holiday pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant required.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• 3+ years MA/EMT experience.
• Experience in patient triaging.
• Flexibility in scheduling; able to work up to three 12-hour shifts/week for full-time or up to two 12-hour shifts/week for part-time.
• Proficient in verbal and written communication; professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Patient triaging including vitals and medical histories.
• Perform point-of-care testing (strep, flu, COVID, mono, urinalysis, glucose, urine pregnancy).
• Assist providers with procedures as needed.
• Perform phlebotomy and EKGs.
• Administer medications per orders.
• Perform patient call backs and laboratory quality controls.
• Handle employer services (drug and alcohol testing, spirometry).
• Assist with patient registration and answering calls.
• Support training of new team members.

Requirements of the Medical Assistant

• High school diploma or GED
• Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant
• Basic Life Support certification
• 3+ Years of MA/EMT experience
• Experience in patient triaging
• Dependable, ability to work all assigned shifts
• Flexibility in scheduling a must
  • Full time: Able to work up to three 12 hour shifts a week and up to four shifts a month on a Saturday or Sunday
  • Part time: Able to work up to two 12 hour shifts a week and up to two shifts a month on a Saturday or Sunday
