Job summary

American Family Care in Iowa is seeking a friendly Medical Assistant for our urgent care center. You will support clinicians, perform clinical tasks, collect patient histories, and help maintain efficient patient flow in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires Medical Assistant certification or relevant clinical training, plus comfort with exam room prep, basic lab work, injections and EKGs. We offer a collaborative team, flexible schedule, and opportunities for training and development.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant or relevant clinical training.
• Experience in urgent care or fast-paced settings preferred.
• Excellent communication and patient-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients, room them efficiently, and gather medical histories and vital signs.
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, wound care, testing, and treatments.
• Perform CLIA-waived lab tests, collect specimens, and maintain lab QC.
• Administer medications, injections, and vaccines under supervision.
• Conduct EKGs, point-of-care testing, and other diagnostic support tasks.
• Draw blood for labs as ordered.
• Keep documentation complete, accurate, and timely.
• Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patient care.
• Support smooth patient flow in a high-volume environment.
• Contribute as a collaborative, dependable member of the clinical team.

About the Role

What You'll Do

What You Bring
