Job summary

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Medical Assistant to join our busy oncology team. This full-time role supports patient care, rooms, vital signs, and charting, with emphasis on accuracy and compassion.

You will collaborate with physicians and nurses, handle referrals and notifications, and assist with tests and procedures while traveling to other Ironwood locations as needed. A CMA or RMA certification is required or obtainable within 90 days; 1–2 years of MA experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare and sanitize exam rooms before and between patients.
• Room patients and record vital signs and assessments.
• Manage patient charts and EMR.
• Handle phone calls, referrals, and patient result notifications.
• Set up orders for transfusions, hospital admissions, phlebotomy, and more.
• Monitor prescription folders and assist with drug replacement programs.

What You’ll Do:

• Prepare and sanitize exam rooms before and between patients
• Room patients and record vital signs and assessments
• Manage patient charts and electronic medical records (EMR)
• Handle phone calls, referrals, and patient result notifications
• Set up orders for transfusions, hospital admissions, phlebotomy, and more

• Coordinate special testing and physician requests

What We’re Looking For:

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)- **Only candidates who currently hold a valid Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain w/in 90 days will be considered***
• 1-2 years of MA experience in a fast-paced setting
• Strong communication, organizational and customer service skills
• Compassionate, team-oriented, and adaptable personality
• EMR experience and computer proficiency a plus
• Positive, professional attitude with a team-first mindset and a passion for oncology care
