Job summary

Illinois Pain & Spine Institute (IPSI) is seeking a Medical Assistant for a Monday–Friday role in an outpatient pain management setting. You will support patients throughout their care journey, assist physicians, and work within a collaborative clinical team that prioritizes compassionate patient care.

The position offers a stable weekday schedule with no weekends or holidays, opportunities to develop clinical skills, and a reputable practice with established, award-winning physicians.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Medical Assistant certification may be required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, spelling, and office ethics.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of clerical procedures, recordkeeping, and filing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and direct phone calls, schedule appointments, and check in patients.
  • Obtain patient information and ensure forms and consents are completed.
  • Record medical histories, vital signs, test results, and other clinical information.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms, equipment, and instruments.
  • Maintain medical supply inventory and stock exam rooms appropriately.
  • Prepare, order, and administer medications under physician direction and supervision.
  • Assist practitioners with medical procedures and other patient care.
  • Assist with pre- and post-procedure patient transfers.
  • Provide compassionate support and assistance to patients and families.
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments, including waitlist and schedule optimization.
  • Maintain HIPAA, OSHA compliance and complete required training.

What You'll Do
  • Receive and direct phone calls, schedule appointments, and check in patients

  • Schedule follow-up appointments at checkout and document reasons when appointments cannot be scheduled
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other healthcare regulations and complete required training
