Job summary

Qualifications

• CMA or RMA certification from an accredited MA program preferred
• 1+ year of clinical experience, preferably in gastroenterology
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, providers and team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple tasks
• Proficiency in EMR systems and basic computer skills

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and medical history and documenting in EMR
• Enter recalls and manage new prescriptions/prescriptions refills as directed by physician
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and team to ensure seamless patient care
• Maintain infection control protocols and safety standards
• Handle physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed
• Maintain patient records with HIPAA compliance
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development
• Other duties as assigned by management

• Prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking vital signs, medical history, and documenting information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
• Responsible for entering recalls and handling new prescription/prescription refills as directed by the physician
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure patient care is delivered seamlessly and safely
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards
• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as needed basis
• Maintain patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Certification of Completion of accredited MA program (CMA or RMA) is preferred

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and basic computer skills

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and climb stairs. The employee should be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, lift and move up to 25 lbs. The work environment is typically quiet to moderate with standard office and procedure room noise levels. The Medical Assistant must be able to observe safe practice criteria in assisting patients.
