Job summary

UPMC | GoHealth Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support fast, high-quality urgent care services. You will register patients, schedule visits, perform vital signs, and support providers with procedures in a patient-centered environment.

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, 1+ year MA experience or approved MA certifications, and BLS. Certifications may be obtained within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years of working experience as a Medical Assistant in a Hospital, Primary Care, Emergency Department, or Urgent Care setting.
• MA certifications (CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA) or nursing/LPN/LVN within 12 months of hire.
• CPOE certification required within 2 weeks of hire if MA certification is not obtained at hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
• Must obtain required MA certifications within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and documentation.
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
• Assist providers with patient care and procedures.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records.
• Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals.
• Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks.

CMA – Certified Medical Assistant

RMA – Registered Medical Assistant

NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant

NRCMA – Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant
