About the Job
Cardiac Associates of North Jersey is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as a Medical Assistant. You will be responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical functions. The Medical Assistant is responsible for the clinic patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of health care services. In this role, you will work directly with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to facilitate outstanding care for our patients. You will report directly to the Practice Manager.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, no weekends, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Compensation
Starts at $20 per hour, dependent on experience.

Responsibilities
- Interview patients and document basic medical history
- Update and file medical records and insurance reports
- Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services
- Check with patients and type up patients' charts
- Assist during medical examinations
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
- Handle receivable and payable accounts and keep financial records
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
- Provide patient‑centric service and care to all patients
- Work independently and collaboratively with the Lead Medical Assistant to serve as a seamless link between patients, practice staff, and physicians to ensure optimal experience for all patients and practice providers
- Assist in addressing patient concerns and requests through triage, collecting pertinent information to elevate to the provider team as needed
- Prepare charts for the Cardiologist – prepare chart sections in Athena EMR at least 24 hours before the visit (reason for visit, medication reconciliation, pharmacy information, lab results, imaging results)
- Collect any and all other pertinent medical information necessary for the care
- Execute intake checklist as defined by practice, perform trained documentation workflows in AthenaHealth EMR
- Perform and document in‑clinic testing and imaging
- Manage all aspects of patient prescription needs, including placing orders, coordinating care with pharmacies, answering patient questions, and managing renewal requests
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in a healthcare office
- EKG Certification required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), clinical and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates strong work ethic and reliability (attendance and punctuality)
- Ability to create and sustain meaningful patient experiences
- Ability to quickly resolve issues and think outside the box
- Knowledge of medical terminology and efficient communication with patients and providers
- Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
- Certification as a Medical Assistant in good standing required
- Knowledge and use of EHRs (Athena experience is a plus)
