CardioOne's MCI East practice seeks motivated individuals to join as Medical Assistant. You will be responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical functions. The Medical Assistant manages clinic patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of health care services. You will work directly with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to facilitate outstanding care for our patients. You will report directly to the Assistant Practice Manager.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients and document basic medical history.
- Update and file medical records and insurance reports.
- Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services.
- Check with patients and type up patients' charts.
- Participate in patient and family education/explanation related to diagnostic testing performed in the clinic setting.
- Assist during medical examinations.
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms.
- Handle receivable and payable accounts and keep financial records.
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments.
- Provide patient‑centric service and care to all patients.
- Work independently and collaboratively with the Lead Medical Assistant to serve as a seamless link between patients, practice staff, and physicians to ensure optimal experience for all patients and practice providers.
- Assist in addressing patient concerns and requests through patient triage, collecting pertinent information to elevate to the provider team as necessary.
- Prepare charts for the Cardiologist – prepare chart sections in Athena EMR at least 24 hours before the visit, including reason for visit, medication reconciliation, pharmacy information, lab and imaging results.
- Execute intake checklist and perform trained documentation workflows in AthenaHealth EMR.
- Perform and document in‑clinic testing and imaging.
- Manage all aspects of patient prescription needs, including placing orders, coordinating care with pharmacies, answering patient questions and managing renewal requests.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and serve in whatever capacity deemed necessary for successful completion of the mission and goals and in concordance with the patient philosophy.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in a healthcare office.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), clinical and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and reliability (attendance and punctuality).
- Ability to create and sustain meaningful patient experiences.
- Ability to quickly resolve issues and think outside the box.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to efficiently communicate with patients and providers using appropriate language.
- Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant in good standing is required.
- Knowledge and use of EHRs; Athena experience is a plus.
- Preceptorship of 400+ clinical hours in Cardiology.
- BLS or ACLS certification required.
Work Location
Hinsdale, IL office.
Compensation and Benefits
Full‑time starting at $20 per hour plus medical, dental, and vision. Commensurate with experience.
