Job summary

SMG Community Care Center in Newport News, VA is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join their team. A sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 is available for qualified candidates. The MA will perform patient care tasks, administrative duties, and uphold safety standards, with BLS required within 90 days of hire.

Education requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent. CMA, RMA, CCMA, or EMT-B certifications are preferred upon hire, with 40 hours per week and varied shifts including some Saturdays.

The Medical Assistant provides an environment for safety; identifies, addresses, and incorporates principles of safety for the patient, visitors, and employees. Provides patient care tasks and procedures and administrative duties (as appropriate). Demonstrates the ability to objectively assess a specific situation from a number of viewpoints considers an array of alternatives, assists with the development of realistic action plans and evaluates outcomes. Demonstrates the development of the specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants, effective inter-departmental interactions, and ability to follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices. Productive and efficient in daily operations. Utilizes appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Certification/Licensure

• One of the following certifications is required upon hire:
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or
• EMT Basic Certification (EMT).

• Related experience (Preferred)

Hours

• 40 hours per week, full time
• Monday and Tuesday – 8am – 5pm, Wed and Thurs – 8am – 6pm, Fri – 8am – 2pm, Saturday - 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month is 8am – noon.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $21.69 - $32.14 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
