Presbyterian Healthcare Services’ Atrisco Family Practice Clinic in Albuquerque, NM seeks compassionate Medical Assistant I or II to support providers and care teams in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

The role offers a built-in career ladder with progression from MA I to MA II based on training and experience, plus education and certification supports and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Six months MA experience or completion of Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program from an accredited school.
  • Successful completion of Presbyterian MA Advanced Skills Training within 90 days of hire.
  • BLS (AHA, Red Cross or ASHI Healthcare Provider) is required.
  • Maintains current certifications in required emergency response trainings (e.g. BLS).
  • Completes all Organizational, Department of Nursing and Department-Specific competency training within specified timeframe.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MA procedures after competency within MA scope of work under supervision.
  • Prepare patient for rooming and exam.
  • Prepare and administer medications and immunizations.
  • Suture/Staple removal and dressing changes.
  • Collect laboratory specimens and provide basic patient education.
  • Set up aseptic and sterile procedures and perform office-based procedures.

Summary

Presbyterian Medical Group's Atrisco Family Practice Clinic is seeking a compassionate and motivated Medical Assistant I or Medical Assistant II to join our growing primary care team. In this role, you will support providers and care teams by delivering high-quality patient care, coordinating clinical services, and helping create an exceptional patient experience in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

This position offers a built-in career ladder, allowing qualified candidates to be considered for either the Medical Assistant I or Medical Assistant II level based on education, training, and experience. Medical Assistant I employees have the opportunity to progress to Medical Assistant II through completion of required training and competency requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for performing medical assistant procedures after completion of competency within organizations MA scope of work, under the supervision of a provider and PHS policy.
  • Prepares patient for rooming and exam
  • Prepares and administers medications and immunizations
  • Suture/Staple removal and dressing changes
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens
  • Provides basic education to patients
  • Sets up aseptic and sterile procedures
  • Performs office-based procedures
  • Performs basic foot care
  • Assists with additional procedures as determined by provider
  • Participates in the orientation of new hire MAs
  • May perform regulatory audits
  • Assists with visit closure
  • Participates with care team to meet patient care and clinic needs.
  • May perform scribe duties after completing PMG scribe training
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Six months of MA experience or successful completion of a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program from an accredited school required
