Job summary

Texas Institute of Cardiology, P. A. in McKinney, TX is seeking an experienced Full-time Medical Assistant to support a cardiology practice and assist the health care provider with patient care.

You will greet patients, record vitals, document in the medical record, schedule tests, sterilize instruments, maintain exam rooms, and ensure safety, privacy, and smooth clinic operations.

Qualifications

• 2 year experience in Healthcare, Cardiology preferred.
• Previous Medical Assistant experience is required.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• eClinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients for the cardiologist following procedures.
• Record vital signs and patient information in the medical record.
• Document in the patient chart per guidelines and protect privacy.
• Communicate with patients as directed by the provider.
• Schedule diagnostic testing and ensure completion per guidelines.
• Prepare, sterilize instruments and maintain exam rooms.
• Perform safety checks and assist with routine tests
• Back office duties as assigned.

We are a single doctor Cardiology practice looking for an experienced Full-time Medical Assistant. Offers PTO, Paid Holidays.

Salary: Will discuss depending on experience; negotiable.

Job Descriptions

Under the direction of the health care provider, the medical assistant is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and well-being of all patients. The medical assistant is responsible for patient care through the ‘nursing’ process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Essential Functions

• Greets and prepares patient for the cardiologist by following established standards and procedures. Obtains and records vital signs including but not limited to height, weight, blood pressure temperature, pulse, respiration, drug allergies, current medications , and reason for the visit.
• Documents in the patient medical record as appropriate and according to clinic guidelines and as directed by a healthcare provider. Ensures patient safety and protection of patient privacy and rights.
• Communicates with patients as appropriate and as directed by a healthcare provider.
• Escalates non-routine issues, questions, and/or concerns to the practice manager and/or healthcare provider. Schedules patients for diagnostic testing and ensure testing has been completed according to clinic guidelines.
• Prepares, cleans, and sterilizes instruments and maintains equipment, disposing of contaminated items according to protocol. Keeps patient exam rooms clean, stocked, and orderly.
• Ensures safety checklists and quality controls are completed according to the clinic and regulatory guidelines. May be required to administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection. Perform routine tests and/or screenings such as EKG, as ordered by the healthcare provider.
• Perform other back office duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Current CPR certification is required.
