Job summary

HopeHealth-Inc is hiring a Medical Assistant in Manning, SC to support the patient-centered medical home team. This full-time role coordinates care between patients and providers and helps the clinical team deliver efficient health care services.

The position requires a CMA or RMA certification, a high school diploma or GED, and at least two years in a physician’s office. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred, with strong communication and data entry skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited school
  • National CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) certification required
  • Two years of experience in a physician’s office

Responsibilities

  • Assist the medical provider with patient intake, taking and recording of vital signs, diagnostic procedures and lab work
  • Assist with medication refills when needed
  • Facilitates efficient patient flow and room turnover
  • Keeps work area neat, tidy and well supplied
  • Stocks exam room with supplies daily
  • Performs data entry for reporting purposes
  • Responds to phone calls in a timely manner
  • Performs practice specific duties in accordance with recommended guidelines
  • Participation in training opportunities to enhance knowledge such as conferences, and continuing education/in-service events
  • Utilizes data systems to assist with chart prep prior to patients appointment
  • Develops and maintains working knowledge of all equipment needed to perform duties
  • Ability to understand and administer vaccines and immunizations to pediatric and/or adult patients
  • Effective communication with other healthcare entities, departments, and guest
  • Manage and maintain medical records
  • Provide appropriate education to patient and/or patient’s family
  • Ability to help in other offices when needed (may include travel)
  • Helps maintain medical supply inventory
  • Assist in training new medical assistants to the organization in the standard working procedures of HopeHealth
  • Other duties as assigned

Overview of the Position:

The Medical Assistant is an essential member of the patient center medical home team. The Medical Assistant is responsible for coordination of care between the patient and medical provider, while helping support the clinical team with effective and efficient delivery of health care services.

Education and Experience:

Physical Requirements:

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone. Vision: Visual acuity adequately to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Other: Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds unassisted in normal daily activities and up to 30 lbs. for other required work activities. Additionally, requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (especially if keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
