Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Behavioral Health outpatient clinic in Elizabethtown, KY. The role provides direct patient care, handles vital signs, patient history, and medication reconciliation, and supports EPIC EMR use and scheduling.

Responsibilities include coordinating tests, processing prior authorizations, and, upon competency, performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and injections while maintaining strong communication with the care team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year MA experience in medical office with direct patient care.
• Graduate of an MA program with hands-on clinical experience.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with EMR systems is a plus.
• BAT and DOT certifications required within 90 days in Occupational Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and patient history; document medications.
• Assist with patient flow and coordination of tests and procedures.
• Manage EPIC EMR, scheduling, and prior authorizations.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and injections when competency is achieved.
• Maintain regular on-site presence to support providers and ensure efficient care.

Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions. **Qualifications:*** High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency* 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required. Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).* **Or** Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
