Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in an outpatient clinic setting. You will collect vital signs, document medical history, reconcile medications and support patient flow.

Responsibilities include navigating the EPIC EMR, scheduling appointments, processing requests, and coordinating tests and procedures, with opportunities to perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and injections after competency. A strong communicator with organizational skills is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with direct patient care in a clinical setting (vital signs, history, meds).
• Familiarity with EPIC or similar EMR systems.
• Certification as Medical Assistant preferred or completion of an accredited MA program.

Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).* **Or** Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.* Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.* Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.* BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.**Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant:*** Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.* **Or** graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
