Job summary

Shriner's Children’s is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinic operations across pediatric ambulatory care settings. You will perform patient rooming, vitals collection, minor procedure assistance, and blood draws while coordinating with physicians and EPIC DAR workflow.

Success requires strong communication, clinical competence, and the ability to work both independently and with teams to ensure a smooth patient experience and safe care delivery.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certification required or preferred where mandated by law.
• 1 year pediatric/ambulatory care experience preferred.
• Spanish proficiency a plus.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, infection control, and patient safety protocols favored.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and verify date of birth and attire.
• Assist with rooming, vitals, blood draws, and medical history data collection.
• Monitor Epic DAR and coordinate with front desk, radiology, and staff.
• Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies, and ensure equipment readiness.
• Support Telehealth and provide administrative tasks as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and prepare cast room setup at applicable sites.

This role requires strong communication skills, clinical competence, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to ensure an optimal care experience for patients and families.Key ResponsibilitiesEscort patients from waiting room(s) to exam room(s), confirming date of birth and ensuring patients are in the proper attire required for their visitAt relevant sites, MAs will walk patients to radiology or POPs rooms/waiting areas, in addition to rooming for clinicObtain patient vitals (height, weight, temperature, pulse, BP, etc.), draw blood, and conduct basic medical history (including chief complaint, medication history, social history, and family history)Monitor Epic DAR and communicate with all relevant teams (front desk, radiology, POPs, etc.) to ensure timely rooming and patient handoffsDirect physicians and APPs to patient rooms based on Epic DAR statusPrepare exam rooms daily; stock and maintain supplies and equipmentAt relevant sites, support cast room setup, cleaning, and supply managementRequired QualificationsMedical Assistant CertificationAcceptable certifications include, but are not limited to: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA Required in states where certification is mandated by law or regulation.
