Job summary

Vera Whole Health, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant (Float) to support multiple care centers across the Columbus market.

The role combines clinical tasks and administrative duties to keep patient flow smooth and deliver high-quality care as you travel between locations. You will work with providers and clinic teams, handle vital signs, immunizations, phlebotomy, and documentation in Athena EMR, and participate in coordination of referrals and preventive care.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy experience required.
• Primary care experience preferred.
• Experience documenting in an EMR (Athena a plus).

Medical Assistant (Float) – Columbus Market (Full Time) Company: Vera Whole Health Primary Locations: 5050 Bradenton Ave, Dublin, OH 43017 1111 Polaris Parkway, Columbus, OH 43240 Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:30pm (1‑hour lunch break) Pay Rate: $21/hr Experience Required: 1+ years Certification: Not required Specialties: Phlebotomy required; Primary Care experience preferred EMR: Athena experience a plus

About the Role

We’re seeking a Medical Assistant (Float) to support multiple Vera Whole Health care centers across the Columbus market. This role provides both clinical and administrative support, ensuring smooth patient flow and high‑quality care. You’ll work closely with providers and clinic teams while traveling between 2 locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Take manual vital signs and document in the EMR
• Assist providers with exams, diagnostic tests, and point‑of‑care testing
• Administer immunizations, injections, and oral medications
• Observe and record patient reactions
• Perform phlebotomy and prepare lab specimens
• Process labs, swabs, and other samples
• Provide routine patient education and self‑management support
• Track preventive care needs, referrals, and follow‑up items
• Conduct outreach to patients and specialists for referrals, care gaps, and records

Clinic Operations

• Manage patient flow throughout the care center
• Set up exam and procedure rooms based on visit needs
• Answer multi‑line phones and assist with front desk duties when needed
• Schedule appointments and support patient registration
• Maintain inventory and restock supplies
• Serve as an external‑facing representative for the clinic
• Travel to other sites for coverage or events as needed

Compliance

• Perform QA controls and complete required documentation
• Follow safety and infection‑control protocols
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality
• Meet medical record documentation standards
• Participate in quality improvement and comply with OSHA/CLIA guidelines

Team Collaboration

• Participate in team meetings and huddles
• Support training, orientation, and ongoing competency assessments
• Work with clinic teams to meet performance targets
• Adapt to flexible hours or shifts as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Additional Qualifications

• Ability to set up exam/procedure rooms using sterile/aseptic technique
• Basic knowledge of cleaning, sterilization, and autoclaving
• Ability to support office‑based procedures
• Understanding of immunization administration for all age groups
• Experience documenting in an EMR

Compensation Range: $19.00 to $30.00 The anticipated base salary range represents the Company's good‑faith estimate of the compensation it reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, internal equity, and business needs.
