Job summary

Sentara Palliative Care Specialists Hahn Cancer Center in Harrisonburg, VA is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team. The position involves patient care as well as administrative and clerical duties under the supervision of licensed clinicians, with a Monday through Friday, 40-hour work week.

Certification is required at hire; at least one year of clinical or administrative experience is required, with phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Overview

The Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative and clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Experience

• One year of clinical/administrative experience required

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

Certification/Licensure

Certification must be received within (9) nine months of employment in one of the following certification programs:

• CCMA- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant or
• CMA- Certified Medical Assistant or
• RMA- Registered Medical Assistant or
• EMT- Emergency Medical Technician

BLS is required within 90 days of hire.
