Job summary

Quality Talent Group seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient examinations and treatments under physician supervision. You will maintain patient flow, document medical histories, vital signs, and medications, and accurately enter data in the EMR.

You may prep charts, obtain outside reports, and handle referrals and renewals as needed. The role requires a Medical Assistant program graduate or prior experience, BLS certification, and strong computer, communication, and clinical skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical Assistant program graduate or prior Medical Assisting experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Strong computer, communication and clinical skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
• Maintain patient flow and document review of systems, vital signs, medical history, and medications.
• Accurately record patient information in the EMR and prepare charts by scanning, abstracting, and reviewing medical records.
• Obtain diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other records from outside facilities as needed.
• Process medication refills and pre-authorizations while communicating with patients, pharmacies, and insurance companies.
• Maintain patient samples and medications, dispose of expired medications, and order medical supplies as needed.
• Prepare and maintain clean, fully supplied examination rooms.
• Obtain pertinent medical information to support medical decision-making according to office protocols.
• Answer calls, respond to MyChart messages, schedule appointments, and check patients in and out.
• Manage EMR/Practice Management in-baskets, workflow logs, work queues, and related office tasks.
• Complete pre-certifications for prescriptions, procedures, and surgeries as needed.
• Operate EKGs, cardiac monitors, and other equipment to perform routine diagnostic tests.
• Perform clinical duties such as phlebotomy and cast removal as assigned.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with safety, legal, quality, and patient experience standards.
• May assist with training new employees or coordinate/oversee work queues in the office.
