Job summary

Quality Talent Group partners with a Cincinnati-area healthcare network seeking a Medical Assistant. You will support physicians in examinations, document patient histories, queue patients, and manage EMR entries to ensure smooth clinic flow.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, handling phlebotomy as needed, processing prescriptions and referrals, and coordinating with patients and insurers. A valid Medical Assistant program or experience and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant program completion or prior Medical Assisting experience required.
• BLS certification required.
• Strong computer, communication, and clinical skills needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with examination and treatment under physician supervision.
• Maintain patient flow and review systems, vital signs, medical history, and meds.
• Record patient information in EMR and prepare charts by scanning and abstracting records.
• Obtain diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other records from outside facilities as needed.
• Process medication refills and pre-authorizations while coordinating with patients, pharmacies, and insurers.
• Maintain patient samples and medications and order supplies as needed.
• Prepare and maintain clean, fully stocked examination rooms.
• Assist with training new staff or coordinating office work queues.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
• Maintain patient flow and document review of systems, vital signs, medical history, and medications.
• Accurately record patient information in the EMR and prepare charts by scanning, abstracting, and reviewing medical records.
• Obtain diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other records from outside facilities as needed.
• Process medication refills and pre-authorizations while communicating with patients, pharmacies, and insurance companies.
• Maintain patient samples and medications, dispose of expired medications, and order medical supplies as needed.
• Prepare and maintain clean, fully supplied examination rooms.
• Obtain pertinent medical information to support medical decision-making according to office protocols.
• Answer calls, respond to MyChart messages, schedule appointments, and check patients in and out.
• Manage EMR/Practice Management in-baskets, workflow logs, work queues, and related office tasks.
• Complete pre-certifications for prescriptions, procedures, and surgeries as needed.
• Operate EKGs, cardiac monitors, and other equipment to perform routine diagnostic tests.
• Perform clinical duties such as phlebotomy and cast removal as assigned.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with safety, legal, quality, and patient experience standards.
• May assist with training new employees or coordinate/oversee work queues in the office.
