Job summary

About the Role

The Clinic Medical Assistant supports clinic operations, patient flow, provider efficiency, and procedural readiness in a fast-paced outpatient healthcare environment. This role assists with chart preparation, patient rooming, procedure setup, room turnover, supply management, documentation support, and outreach clinic preparation. The Medical Assistant works closely with providers, nurses, and clinic team members to help ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care at our West Fargo, ND location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily clinic operations, patient flow, provider schedules, and room readiness.
  • Prepare patient charts, review visit needs, and ensure required documentation, forms, imaging, lab results, and clinical information are available for provider review.
  • Room patients, obtain and document appropriate clinical information, and prepare patients for provider evaluation or office-based procedures.
  • Assist providers and nurses with office-based procedures, including room setup, supplies, equipment preparation, patient positioning support, documentation assistance, and post-procedure room turnover.
  • Set up, clean, and turn over exam rooms and procedure rooms between patients according to clinic standards, infection prevention practices, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain instruments, procedure supplies, and clinical equipment in a clean, organized, and ready-to-use condition within the scope of the role.
  • Stock and organize exam rooms, procedure rooms, supply areas, and outreach clinic materials to support efficient patient care.
  • Assist with supply management, including monitoring inventory, identifying supply needs, checking outdates, and communicating replenishment needs to appropriate team members.
  • Prepare materials, supplies, equipment, and documentation needed for outreach clinics.
  • Assist with procedure scheduling workflows under RN or provider oversight, including patient instructions, documentation support, and communication with internal team members.
  • Support patient communication in a professional, compassionate, and service-oriented manner, escalating clinical questions or concerns to nursing staff or providers as appropriate.
  • Document patient care activities, rooming information, procedure support, patient communications, and related tasks accurately in the electronic medical record within scope of practice.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all applicable clinic policies, HIPAA requirements, safety standards, and infection prevention practices.
Qualifications
  • Medical Assistant certification or equivalent clinical experience required.
  • Outpatient clinic, procedural clinic, specialty practice, vascular, surgical, or ambulatory care experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to support multiple providers, patient care needs, and clinic workflows in a busy environment.
  • Professional, dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering excellent patient service.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families or caregivers, providers, nurses, external facilities, vendors, and team members.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and patient communication platforms preferred.
  • Ability to follow directions, work within scope of practice, maintain confidentiality, and upscale clinical concerns appropriately.
