Responsibilities

• Support physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses by taking vitals, assisting in medical examinations and procedures, and providing translation services.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during examinations and procedures.
• Take vital signs, height, and weight; plot growth charts; administer immunizations.
• Perform laboratory and screening tests typically performed in a medical office, such as visual acuity, audiometric screening, Snellen tests, spirometry, and EKGs.
• Provide counseling, care, follow-up instructions, health education, and materials to patients as directed by the provider.

Qualifications

Minimum

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved school or hospital, including externship verification of 6 months of clinical experience (back office MA experience may be submitted in lieu of externship).
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Current CPR certification.
• Phlebotomy experience.

Preferred

• Minimum one year of back-office experience in a clinical environment.
• Phlebotomy certification.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Good knowledge of general back-office procedures, such as taking vitals, performing venipuncture, and administering immunizations.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology in both English and Spanish.
• Emergency response capability for crisis situations.
• Experience with computers, Microsoft Office (Word/Excel), email systems, and internet research.

Pay Range

• $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
