Job summary

BHMG Internal Medicine and Pediatrics is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in our outpatient clinic. You will obtain vital signs, document patient history, reconcile medications, and support patient flow.

The role involves managing the EPIC EMR, scheduling, processing prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. After clinical competency, EKGs, lab work, injections, and phlebotomy may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year of MA experience in a medical office or clinic, including direct patient care.
• Graduate of accredited MA program with hands-on patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals and document patient history.
• Reconcile medications and assist with medication orders.
• Manage EPIC EMR and schedule appointments.
• Handle prior authorizations and coordinate tests/procedures.
• Assist with EKGs, lab tests, injections or phlebotomy after competency.

Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow.Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy.Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions.**Qualifications:*** High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency* 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required. Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG's, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).* **Or** Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.* Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.* Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.* BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant:* Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.* **Or** graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
