We’re looking for a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team and make a meaningful impact by providing exceptional care and support to individuals in their healthcare journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative Duties:
- Greet patients, keep medical records up to date (abstracting), answer the telephone, take phone messages, and evaluate patient requests to speak with a provider.
- Assess potential emergencies and incorporate them into the schedule as needed, utilizing the “Lead Nurse” when necessary for further medical decision-making.
- Collaborate with case managers/referral coordinators and operators on insurance forms, appointments, correspondence, and scheduling hospital/lab services.
- Assist the billing department with incomplete or missing information promptly.
- Clinical Duties:
- Check in patients for scheduled visits, including vital signs, patient history, and assessment of needs.
- Provide patient services that do not require a provider, following established protocols.
- Record all patient contacts in the chart, verifying identifiers beforehand.
- Perform point-of-care testing and treatments as per protocol.
- Participate in quarterly lab proficiency testing and review lab reports for appropriate follow-up.
- Arrange follow-up with providers, send notices to patients, prepare rooms for procedures, and assist providers during procedures.
- Manage supplies, schedule diagnostic tests, and prepare patients for exams.
- Administer medications accurately, calculate drug doses, and participate in patient education.
- Support team operations, maintain inventory, and assist with orientation of new staff.
- Attend staff meetings, ensure compliance with sterilization and safety protocols, and participate in continuing education.
- Maintain current CPR certification, complete annual competency assessments, and adhere to regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Graduate from a medical assistant school; one-year medical office experience preferred.
- Current Medical Certification or Registered Medical Assistant preferred.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and technology.
- BLS certification/training required.
