Job summary

BoulderCentre for Orthopedics & Spine in Boulder, CO is hiring a Medical Assistant to support providers and back-office tasks in a fast-paced clinic. The MA will help with patient care, document records, and ensure smooth patient flow during examinations and treatments.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, medical assistant certification or diploma preferred, and about one year of clinical experience. Strong HIPAA knowledge and attention to detail are essential for success.

Responsibilities

  • Support physicians in delivering patient care and ensure smooth workflow during examinations and treatments.
  • Manage patient records, appointments, and insurance details.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in exam rooms and supply areas per infection control protocols.
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Perform clinical tasks including obtaining vital signs, assisting with minor surgeries, and conducting laboratory procedures.
  • Educate patients on home care strategies and proper use of assistive devices.
  • Be flexible and take on additional responsibilities as delegated by supervisors.

Job Overview

Join out team as a Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant functions as a pivotal member of the patient care team performing medical assisting duties. Under general supervision the Medical Assistant (MA) assists provider with patient care and all back-office duties. Ensures smooth work and patient flow within the clinic.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Support physicians in delivering comprehensive patient care by anticipating needs and ensuring smooth workflow during examinations and treatments.
  • Manage patient records, appointments, and insurance details meticulously to ensure accurate and efficient clinic operations.
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization in exam rooms and supply areas, adhering to infection control protocols for patient safety.
  • Demonstrate strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality, while remaining prepared to respond effectively to emergencies as they arise.
  • Perform a wide range of clinical tasks including obtaining vital signs, assisting with minor surgeries, and conducting laboratory procedures in accordance with established protocols and best practices.
  • Actively engage in patient education initiatives, providing clear instructions on home care strategies and proper use of assistive devices to promote optimal recovery and wellness.
  • Remain flexible and responsive to evolving clinic needs, readily taking on additional responsibilities as delegated by supervisors to support the team and enhance patient care delivery.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required. Completion of a medical assistant diploma or certification from an accredited vocational institution, or completion of a medical assisting course at a community college is preferred.
  • Experience: One year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant preferred. Documented evidence of completion of an externship in a medical office is also desirable. Demonstrated proficiency in tasks such as taking vital signs, venipuncture, and injections is required.
