Job summary

The Medical Assistant position at UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care centers supports our mission to deliver an effortless patient experience a strong culture of care. The role emphasizes accurate clinical tasks, documentation, and patient flow in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

Minimum hourly rate starts at $17/hour with monthly incentive pay based on performance metrics and a sign-on bonus up to $2,000 for eligible applicants. Training and certifications are encouraged to advance within this team.

Qualifications

• Healthcare background with clinical training translates to MA role.
• 1+ year experience as Medical Assistant or raw clinical training accepted.
• LPN/LVN, EMT, Paramedic or PCT backgrounds encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and documentation
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history
• Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments
• Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
• Assist providers with patient care and procedures
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records
• Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals
• Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks
• Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment
• All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent AND 1+ years of working experience as a Medical Assistant in a Hospital, Primary Care, Emergency Department, or Urgent Care setting OR One of the following MA certifications at the time of hire (or must obtain within 12 months of hire): CCMA- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (verified through NHA, National Health career Association) CMA- Certified Medical Assistant (verified through AAMA, American Association of Medical Assistants, or CHP Certified Health Professionals) RMA- Registered Medical Assistant (verified through AMT, American Medical Technologists, or AAH, American Allied Health, or ARMA American Registry of Medical Assistants) NCMA- National Certified Medical Assistant (verified through NCCT, National Center for Competency Testing) NRCMA- Nationally Registered Certified Medial Assistant (verified through the National Association for Health Professionals) OR One of the following: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, LPN or LVN at the time of hire (verified through state license) EMT- Emergency Medical Technician (verified through state certification and/or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians) Paramedic (verified through state certification and/or and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians)

Required Licenses/Certifications
