The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to psychiatric medical providers and the interdisciplinary care team serving a forensic mental health population. This role manages an assigned caseload, coordinates medical services, supports continuity of care, and maintains accurate clinical documentation while working under the supervivion of a licensed provider.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned caseload and assist with coordination of ongoing medical services
- Coordinate appointments with multiple healthcare providers to support continuity of care
- Assist with care coordination for clients with multiple medical and mental health comorbidities
- Collect patient health data and perform basic intake and health screenings
- Maintain accurate patient records in both paper charts and the (EHR)
- Administer medications and injections as orderd by the provider and according to clinical protocols
- Order laboratory tests and track results as directed by providers
- Provide patient education related to medications, treatments, and general health management
- Provide basic firstr aid and maintain current CPR certification
- Communicate effectively with psychiatric physicians and interdisciplinary care teammembers
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to support coordinated patient care
- Assist with prior authorizations and insurance documentation when needed
- Delegate appropriate non - clinical tasks to direct care staff as directed by the clinical team
- Maintain confidentiality and follow organizational policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification preferred or relevant clinical experience
- Experience in behavioral health or forensic populatins preferred
- Knowledge of Electronic Health systems
- Strong documentation, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a clinical environment
