Job summary

Spero Health, Inc. in Barbourville, KY is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our integrated care team.

You will support clinicians by scheduling visits, checking in patients, recording vitals, and preparing specimens while helping patients navigate counseling, case management and medication support as part of our holistic care approach. You should have a high school diploma (MA program preferred) and 1–3 years of MA experience; CPR certification is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program preferred.
• 1-3 years as a Medical Assistant experience.
• Phlebotomy and lab experience preferred.
• Injections experience preferred.
• Must obtain CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments.
• Answer and screen in-coming calls and voicemails.
• Check patients in/out and manage patient flow.
• Perform urine drug screens, take vitals, assist with evaluations.
• Call in patient medications as directed by Physician.
• Input patient information into EHR.
• Send prior-authorizations to insurance companies.
• Perform daily financial summary and balance of payments received.
• Responsible for cash collection and verification of benefits.
• Review the Prescription Monitoring Database.
• Provide education and resources regarding medications.

This position is for a Medical Assistant who supports the mission of “Saving Lives, Instilling Hope and Restoring Relationships” in an integrated team with patients receiving counseling, case management and medically assisted treatment. The Medical Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Requirements

Education:

• High School Diploma required
• Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assisting preferred

Experience:

• 1-3 years as a Medical Assistant (or similar type role)
• Phlebotomy and lab experience preferred
• Experience with injections preferred
• Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification
