Job summary

Aiken Physicians Alliance is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians in examining and treating patients, including interviewing, measuring vital signs, and assisting in procedures within the clinic’s scope. Documentation is completed in the EMR per IPM guidelines.

Responsibilities include preparing treatment rooms and covering front desk duties as needed. A valid Medical Assistant program completion and current BLS/CPR certification are required, with bilingual English/Spanish

Qualifications

• Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems.
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

• Interview patients and record vital signs (pulse, temperature, BP, weight, height).
• Perform venipuncture and procedures as directed; document in EMR per IPM guidelines.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties which include assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture and procedure as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State. Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guideline's. Prepares treatment room's for examination of patients. Assists in cover age of the front desk as required.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training & Travel Requirements

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
• Current BLS/CPR certification required

Work experience:

• Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant
• Familiarity with medical terminology required
• Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol)

Knowledge:

• General medical office procedures
• Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol)

Skills:

• Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Abilities:

• Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions

Equipment Operated:

• Office equipment such as fax machine, copier, and telephone system
• EKG machine, other patient care testing
