Synectics Inc. seeks an experienced Medicaid Specialist (Paralegal) to join our team in Hauppauge, NY.

You will assist families in obtaining and maintaining Medicaid eligibility for long-term care, collaborating with attorneys and care coordinators to deliver peace of mind to clients. Qualified candidates have at least 5 years of NY Medicaid experience, strong knowledge of eligibility rules, and excellent communication with elderly clients and their families.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of direct Medicaid application and planning experience in New York State.
• Strong understanding of Medicaid eligibility rules, including spousal impoverishment and asset transfer.
• Experience with crisis planning and community-based Medicaid preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - especially with elderly clients and their families.
• Empathy, patience, and a sincere commitment to helping others.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with legal case management systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit Medicaid applications and supporting documentation for nursing home and community cases.
• Handle all phases of the Medicaid process, including eligibility assessments, asset preservation, and audit responses.
• Maintain ongoing communication and follow-up with clients, caregivers, financial institutions, and government agencies.
• Support attorneys in legal matters related to Medicaid planning and asset protection.
• Track deadlines and ensure all required documentation is timely and accurately submitted.
• Maintain detailed and organized case files in accordance with firm policies.
