Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Health is seeking a Medicaid Analyst Supervisor to lead a team of Medicaid Analysts and ensure high-quality, accurate service delivery. You will oversee workflow, maintain compliance with state and federal policies, support staff with complex cases, monitor case quality, provide in-service training, and handle reviews and fair‑hearing inquiries.

This role requires strong leadership, policy interpretation, and an ability to coordinate across units to meet state goals

Qualifications

• Six years of social services experience; OR
• Six years of full‑time experience in any field plus three years of social services experience; OR
• A bachelor's degree plus three years of social services experience; OR
• An advanced degree plus two years of social services experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a unit of Medicaid Analysts with responsibility for maintaining acceptable standards of assistance.
• Ensures strict adherence to all rules and regulations by all personnel in the unit.
• Assists Medicaid Analysts in sensitive or difficult applications by advising on procedural issues, policy, and decisions.
• Monitors case development through reviews and quality control findings.
• Interprets program policy to subordinates to ensure consistency with federal rules and guidelines.
• Monitors workflow in the unit, including distribution of cases and weekly/monthly reports.
• Interviews applicants and recipients concerning their rights in relation to fair hearings; handles inquiries with privacy rules.
• Conducts special investigations and studies; develops and maintains files for corrective action.

• EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties

• SupervisesaunitofMedicaidAnalystswithresponsibilityforthemaintenanceofacceptable standardsofassistance. Ensuresstrictadherencetoallrulesandregulationsbyallpersonnelintheunit. Ensuresthatworkproductionandqualitymeetstate,regional,andnationalgoalsestablishedby therespectiveadministrators.
• AssistsMedicaidAnalystsinespeciallysensitiveordifficultapplicationsbyadvisingonprocedural issues,policy,anddecisions. Plansandcoordinatesin-servicetrainingforpersonnelintheunit.
• Monitorscasedevelopmentthroughreviewsasdirectedbyagencypolicy,previousreview findings,andqualitycontrolfindings.
• Interpretsprogrampolicytosubordinatestoensureconsistencywithfederalrules,regulations, andguidelines.
• Monitorsworkflowintheunitincludingcontrollingdistributionofcasesandcompletingweekly andmonthlystatisticalreports.
• Interviewsapplicantsandrecipientsconcerningtheirrightsinrelationtofairhearings. Interviewscomplainantsandinvestigatespossibleadjustments. RespondstorequestsinaccordancewiththePrivacyActandtheFreedomofInformationAct.
