Job summary

Mathematica is seeking an Advisory Services Analyst- Project Manager with a strong interest in project management for Medicaid/Marketplace projects. This advisory services role blends project management and technical assistance to improve public health insurance program operations and health care delivery.

Candidates will manage 2-3 projects, guide project directors, design tools, monitor costs, and provide technical assistance to state and federal health agencies, grantees, or providers.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in public policy, public administration, business, or related field; or commensurate experience in operations or management-oriented positions.
• Strong management skills, including ability to monitor costs on multimillion-dollar contracts and work as part of a team to complete work within tight timelines.
• Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail; flexibility to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to write clearly, influence colleagues, and communicate with clients diplomatically.
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, and ability to apply critical and creative thinking to identify solutions.
• Professional experience in a similar field or position.
• Interest in improving Medicaid, Marketplace, and other government programs through effective project management and providing technical assistance to health care entities.
• Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide the direction and organization to keep Medicaid projects on time and on budget; facilitate communications among the internal project team, subcontractors, and clients.
• Conduct project management activities; help plan and manage complex projects; design, implement, and monitor tools and processes to organize data and manage teams.
• Perform analyses of projects to monitor and evaluate performance, including costs, resource utilization, earned value, and subcontractor oversight.
• Implement and maintain project collaboration and knowledge management tools (Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Jira workflows, Confluence, Excel).
• Provide technical assistance to state and federal health agencies, grantees, or providers (design webinars, respond to questions, create reporting tools).
• Draft workplans, client memos, technical documentation, proposals and other contractual deliverables.
