Job summary

Optumas is seeking an Actuarial Manager to lead Medicaid consulting engagements, blending hands-on actuarial work with team leadership and project oversight. The role requires managing work plans, timelines, and budgets while guiding analysts and delivering data-driven recommendations to clients.

You will perform actuarial analyses, develop models and forecasts, and continuously improve tools and methods for Medicaid financing and healthcare operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or a related quantitative field.
• ASA designation is preferred.
• 5+ years of actuarial or healthcare consulting experience, including Medicaid or public-sector work.
• Demonstrated leadership in projects, workstreams, or teams.
• Experience analyzing healthcare claims, enrollment, eligibility, or financial data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for client and internal audiences.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities with competing priorities.
• Proficiency with SQL, SAS, R, Python, and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to handle sensitive health information appropriately.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead Medicaid and public-sector consulting projects from planning to delivery, managing plans, budgets, and timelines.
• Perform actuarial analyses and develop models, forecasts, and deliverables; identify trends and actionable insights.
• Build client relationships, identify growth opportunities, contribute to proposals and business development.
• Mentor and develop team members, coach on projects, and promote collaboration and excellence.
