Job summary

Mission-driven NYC nonprofit organization seeks a Temporary Manager, Healthcare Coverage & Access to assist community organizations with Medicaid enrollment, recertification, and public benefits navigation.

You will train staff, provide TA, and support policy analysis while traveling across NYC to partner sites. This grant-funded role runs through March 31, 2027, with hybrid work and built-in collaboration with healthcare and government partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in community health or public benefits.
• Strong knowledge of Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, recertification and coverage.
• Experience delivering training or TA to frontline staff or organizations.
• Familiarity with NY State Medicaid and enrollment-assistance models preferred.
• Ability to translate policy changes into actionable guidance.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Conduct needs assessments with partner organizations to identify benefits navigation gaps.
• Develop training tools and technical assistance on Medicaid enrollment and recertification.
• Provide coaching, site visits, and group trainings to partners.
• Integrate benefits navigation into existing case-management workflows.
• Monitor Medicaid policy changes and translate into guidance for partners.
• Support organizations to become Medicaid enrollment assistor agencies.
• Track screenings, enrollments, recertifications and referrals.
• Build relationships with community, healthcare and government partners.
• Assist with research, policy analysis, and funding proposals.
