Job summary

NBCUniversal is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the Technology team in West Hartford, CT, supporting NBC and Telemundo Connecticut. You will implement and support technology within a mission-critical, media production and enterprise IT environment, collaborating with News, Production, and Creative Services teams.

You will gather requirements, deploy solutions, document systems, provide incident response, and ensure cyber security policy compliance while handling 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, radio, television & film, related fields or equivalent experience.
• Experience in planning, implementation and support of media technology including SDI and NDI video infrastructures, contribution & distribution encoding, live production systems, news gathering tools, NRCS, NLE, media asset management, and transmission systems.
• Expertise in core IT fundamentals including administration of physical / virtualized / cloud compute & storage, networking, domain & identity management.
• History of successfully leading complex projects resulting in satisfied stakeholders.
• Proficient with IT routers, switches, firewalls, and port management applications
• Proficient in A/V file transcoding, data archiving processes and video compression technologies & standards
• Hands-on experience with support of non-linear edit systems such as the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
• Demonstrated knowledge of media over managed IP networks and protocols
• Knowledge and experience with hardware virtualization
• Knowledge of media workflow tools and production systems such as Vantage, Dalet, Ross Overdrive or similar
• Knowledge of distribution systems
• Knowledge of newsgathering and communications systems
• Strong ability to read and generate system documentation (Visio, ACAD)
• Positive work ethic, ability to work well in groups to execute projects on time and on budget while meeting customer expectations
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with diverse audiences across different departments, ranging from non-technical clients to technical professionals and operations staff
• Must be able to process large amounts of information, analyze this information and make sound decisions, sometimes under intense deadline pressure
• Knowledge of standard engineering processes such as change control and agile development concepts.
• Must be keen to learn and develop new skills
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Excellent organization, collaboration, and communication skills
• Knowledge and experience with setup, testing and documentation of proof-of-concept systems
• Must possess strong multitasking skills and the ability to prioritize tasks

Responsibilities

• Gather requirements, plan, and implement technical and workflow solutions for News, Production, and Creative Services partners.
• Administration of media production applications, systems and infrastructure, ensuring reliability of technology and operations.
• Develop and maintain system documentation for operational and troubleshooting purposes.
• Provide technical support, incident response, and customer communication.
• Ensure compliance with NBCUniversal cyber security policies and standards.
