Job summary

Atlanta Public Schools is seeking a self-motivated Media Paraprofessional to support teachers and meet the educational, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students in the Media Center. The role involves assisting with instruction, organization, and management, and requires on-site presence in the school building.

The position reports to the School Principal and is assigned to Therrell High School. Strong communication and collaboration with staff and parents are essential.

Qualifications

• Current GA Paraprofessional Certificate required.
• High School Diploma or GED with GA paraprofessional assessment, OR an Associate degree / 2 years of higher education.
• Two years of experience with children preferred.
• Available for face-to-face instruction within the school building with students present.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to teachers with in-person instruction, classroom organization and instructional strategies.
• Attend classroom sessions, redirect off-task students and support remediation or intervention.
• Work with small groups or individuals to practice skills and ensure understanding.
• Assist with checking in on students who have not accessed resources or completed assignments.
• Communicate proactively with teachers and parents about student issues.
• Respond to emails and calls from school leaders in a timely manner.
• Assist during standardized testing to support state and local policies.
• Prepare daily lesson materials and make copies for students.
• Distribute food, supplies, materials and equipment, including technology.
• Support grading and provide feedback to students.
• Monitor student movement between locations and supervise in cafeterias.
• Assist with sanitation and cleanup to maintain a clean environment.
