Job summary

Rows Inc. is seeking Certified Med Aides/Techs to provide direct care to senior residents following a personalized medication and treatment service plan.

Responsibilities include pouring and assisting with medications, ensuring consistency with physician orders, processing renewals, reviewing logs, coordinating with the Medication Supervisor, and maintaining resident medication files. Minimum 6 months’ senior care experience and Medication Management certification required.

Qualifications

  • Med Tech experience or training is a plus.
  • Post high school coursework in medical services or college degree is a plus.
  • Medication Management certified.
  • Min 6 months experience working with seniors in care settings.
  • Must communicate effectively and stay calm in difficult situations.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately pour and endorse assistance with the medication of each individual.
  • Ensure consistency between physician prescriptions, blister packs and medications poured for each resident.
  • Ensure timely and accurate medication orders and medication renewals.
  • Review medication refill log to compare with medication in storage cabinets.
  • Review of no-refill orders in the refill log and faxing of requests to MDs.
  • Review of receipt, storage, and documentation of medications delivered.
  • Communicate with the Medication Supervisor to clarify and ensure entitlements, prescriptions, and deliveries.
  • Maintain medical and medication information on all residents in their designated file.
  • Report residents who missed or refused medications to supervisor and case management.
  • Attend all mandatory scheduled in-service training programs.

OVERVIEW:

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience and/or training as a Med Tech is a plus
  • Post high school course work in medical services or college degree is a plus
  • Medication Management certified
  • Min 6 months experience working with seniors in assisted living, home health, independent living, hospital or long-term care environment and desire to serve and care for seniors
  • Must be able to make choices, decisions and act in the resident's best interest, have the ability to react and remain calm in difficult situations and possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and level of understanding
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work with residents that can sometimes be agitated, violent.
  • Willing to work beyond normal working hours and during disastrous circumstances, if needed.
  • Must be in good physical health and be able to stand on feet for long period of time and be able to walk long distances.
  • The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds.
