Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Registered Nurse on Med Surg at the Sussex Campus in Milford, Delaware. The unit is acuity adaptable, caring for Neuro and Neuro-like conditions with a 24-bed capacity, 12-hour night shifts, and a strong focus on teamwork and safety.

The RN provides professional nursing care, develops individualized care plans, and contributes to quality and performance initiatives while supporting residency programs and shared governance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing or nursing diploma required.
• Registered Nurse license and Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS/PALS may be required per manager's direction.
• Experience in the relevant specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the Med Surg unit.
• Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient records and document care.
• Counsel and educate patients and families on treatment plans.
• Administer medications following five rights of medication administration.
• Perform wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information to assist in treatment decisions.
• Collaborate with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions.
