Job summary

Riverview Regional Medical Center, Gadsden, AL, is seeking a Staff RN for our 4th tower Stroke/Medical Surgical unit. The role involves caring for patients recovering from surgery, managing acute and chronic illnesses, and supporting diagnostic procedures. New grads are welcome.

The position offers nights (7:00PM–7:00AM) with a $4–$8 shift differential and full benefits through Prime Healthcare. This is a 4T Med/Surg unit with opportunities to grow within a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• ACLS certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain current (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental health.
• Monitor vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditions.
• Recognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, such as changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental status.
• Safely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions.
• Act as liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure the patient's needs are met.
• Provide patient education on their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission.
• Communicate effectively with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans.
