Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical 6 East unit in Boston. The 36-bed Med-Surg unit provides a broad range of general medical diagnoses and opportunities for professional growth.

The RN will deliver patient-centered care within a supportive organization, collaborate with an inter-professional team, and participate in quality improvement and staff development initiatives. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits accompany a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• MA RN license is required.
• 1+ years of RN experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required in certain units.
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN preferred; BSN within 4 years encouraged.
• Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification for certain practice areas.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Fluency in another language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical unit, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and patient education.
• Communicate with health care team members, patients, and families.
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records.
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
• Assist leadership in quality improvement projects.
