Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk in Patchogue, NY is seeking a Registered Nurse for Med Surg on 2 South. You will provide professional nursing care aligned with physician plans, collaborating with patients and families to support comfort and recovery.

Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year nursing program at an accredited School of Nursing.
• 1+ year of nursing experience preferred for various specialties.
• Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse; BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred for certain roles.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient health data by involving the patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
• Perform initial assessment based on patient's presentation.
• Record relevant data on the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
• Demonstrate awareness of the special needs of each age group or culture served.
• Perform ongoing assessments as established by department policy and as warranted by the patient's response.
• Incorporate discharge planning into the admission process.
• Analyze assessment data to identify problems and expected outcomes.
• Communicate expected outcomes to the patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
• Develop a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
• Document the initial plan of care and provide updates as required.
